YOU NEED A BREAK

Sab-bath - a day of religious observance and abstinence from work, kept by Jewish people from Friday evening to Saturday evening, and by most Christians on Sunday.

I just finished a book called "The Ruthless Elimination Of Hurry" by John Mark Comer. In it, he does a fantastic job of speaking to an issue everyone, everywhere, faces. No matter if you are busy because you work 60 hours plus a week at a job that always comes home with you. Or if you are nearing retirement and things are 'settling down.'

Why?

We have come to a place sociologically where we need to be busy all the time.

Because culturally, we have come to a place sociologically where we need to be busy all the time. The 'busy' shows up in many ways; texting constantly, social media regularly, Netflix, Youtube, TikTok, yard work, news channels, documentaries, movies, more and more stuff. But maybe the best thing we can begin to do is stop... Take a break... Rest... Relax... Refocus...

But make sure you get this right. It is not just to rest and relax, with a pina colada in a sweet Hawaiian shirt (nice). It is to re-commune and connect with God. It is to connect with Christ and your calling.

Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. - Matthew 11:28

Notice Jesus says, "come." Come and commune with the living God. Be in relation with the creator and king.

You cannot and will not find rest on your own. No matter what you do, you will burn out on your own.

You cannot and will not find rest on your own. You need Jesus.

So, take it from me... Take A Break.

How are you going to find rest?

How can you make this a daily, weekly, monthly... Regularly?
